Scuba divers describe the PADI Rescue Diver course as the most challenging, yet most rewarding course they've ever taken. Why? Because you learn to prevent and manage problems in the water and become more confident in your skills as a diver, knowing that you can help others if needed.
During the course you learn to become a better buddy by practicing problem solving skills until they become second nature. Plus the course is just fun – it’s serious, but still allows for lots of laughter in between the focused learning.
The PADI Rescue Diver course prepares you to deal with dive emergencies, minor and major, using a variety of techniques. Through knowledge development and rescue exercises you learn what to look for and how to respond. During rescue scenarios you put into practice your knowledge and skills.
Most students choose to complete our Rescue Plus Diver certification bundle (you will have the option to add this during checkout) which includes PADI Rescue Diver, Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) and the PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider Speciality certification. By doing this you'll gain your required first aid training, add another PADI Speciality in your quest to be a Master Scuba Diver (this one's really crucial too) and save considerably on the cost of completing the courses separately.
Typically the other students on the Emergency First Response and Emergency Oxygen Provider courses are your buddies, therefore you'll have chance to work with them and bond as a team prior to completing your Rescue Diver training. The courses are scheduled just before the Rescue Diver course so your skills will be fresh.
No prior experience with scuba diving is required to take part in our Discover Scuba or Bubblemaker sessions. You do however need to be comfortable in the water.
All equipment is supplied, just bring your swimwear, a towel and a t-shirt you don't mind wearing in the pool under the jacket.
You do need to be in reasonable physical health and comfortable in the water. If you have a medical condition then please review 'Can I dive' below. If you require medical sign-off, please obtain this before booking.
Learning to dive is a great family experience. Discover Scuba is for participants aged 10 and over only. If you would like to include an 8 or 9 year old within your group, please book all participants in for a Bubblemaker session.
Our Discover Scuba and Bubblemaker experiences are a great introduction to scuba diving and will help you to understand if you like scuba diving before committing to a full course. If you have already decided that you'd like to learn to dive, our PADI Open Water Diver course will allow you to become qualified to dive independently to 18 metres with another qualified diver
For those aged twelve and above, our Open Water Diver course is the ideal next step. This will qualify you to dive to eighteen metres with another qualified diver. If you want to complete the course in a short period of time, you can book one of our intensive courses over as little as three days, or you can spread it out over a number of weeks.
For those aged 8-11, we recommend PADI Seal Team as the next step. This five lesson course teaches your child basic scuba skills with other children the same age in a swimming pool. Of course, if you're unsure then please ask your Instructor who will be delighted to advise you further.
