Does your child love the water? Trust Dive Academy to give them their first scuba diving experience in a safe, supportive environment designed just for kids. As A PADI Approved Youth Training Centre, we specialise in child-centred diving with patient instructors who focus on building confidence through fun activities.
Safety first, always - all staff are first aid trained and DBS checked with full child protection policies in place. Our safeguarding lead Louise is happy to chat about our approach at any time.
What will they do?
The instructor will help your child to get comfortable with child-sized equipment designed just for them, including child-size jackets, lighter smaller regulators and smaller scuba tanks. In the pool, they'll discover the joy of breathing underwater and play amazing underwater games. We focus on building their confidence at their own pace in a fun, supportive environment.
What happens when I book?
You'll receive an email all your booking details and everything you need to know for the day.
Simply arrive at your chosen location by the start time - we'll take care of the rest. While your child enjoys their underwater adventure, we're happy to chat about their next steps including our PADI Seal Team programme that runs fortnightly during term time and during school holidays.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do they need experience with scuba diving?
No prior experience with scuba diving is required to take part in our Discover Scuba or Bubblemaker sessions. Your child does however need to be comfortable in the water.
What do we need to bring?
All equipment is supplied, just bring your child's swimwear, a towel and a t-shirt you don't mind them wearing in the pool under the jacket.
My child has a medical condition, can they participate?
You do need to be in reasonable physical health and comfortable in the water. If you have a medical condition then please review 'Can I dive' below. If you require medical sign-off, please obtain this before booking.
Is this a good family experience?
Learning to dive is a great family experience. Children aged 8-9 can only participate in PADI Bubblemaker or PADI Seal Team which are both based in the pool. For children aged 10-11 we recommend booking a Discover Scuba experience first, our instructors will then be happy to advise on next steps based on your child's experience in the pool.
What's next?
We recommend PADI Seal Team as the next step. This five lesson course teaches your child basic scuba skills with other children the same age in a swimming pool. Of course, if you're unsure then please ask your Instructor who will be delighted to advise you further.
